Donald E. Mrdjenovich

Dr. Mrdjenovich, president and owner of Central PA Podiatry, has practiced in the Altoona Area since 1991. Dr. Mrdjenovich graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Neuroscience in 1985 from the University of Pittsburgh and Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1989 from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Mrdjenovich completed his podiatric residency training at Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He has become board certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine in 1993 and as a Diplomate by the American Academy of Wound Management in 1997, designating him the first Certified Wound Specialist in the region. He previously served as podiatry director for the Vascular Wound Care Program at the Bon Secours Campus of Altoona Hospital, as well as consulting faculty for Advanced Wound Recovery Group lecturing and educating wound centers. Dr. Mrdjenovich is a member of both the American and Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Associations . He is also a member of the American Academy of Sports Medicine and American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine. He has also participated in the research and publication of a retrospective analysis of Diabetic Neuropathic Osteoarthropathy for the surgical service, podiatry section Vascular and Wound Care Program Lebanon, PA with Dr. Lee J. Sanders 1990-91. He received LASER Surgery Certification. Dr. Mrdjenovich is fluent in American Sign Language and serves as cochairman of the Central PA Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Task Force. He is Board Qualified by the American Association of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Mrdjenovich is a member of the AAWC, Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.

Gerald E. Gronborg, DPM, CWS, FACFAS, FACCWS

Gerald E. Gronborg, DPM

Dr. Gronborg has lived and practiced in the Altoona area since 1989.  He resides in Bedford with his wife and three children.  He is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Gannon University.  He then attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine graduating in 1989.  His three years of residency training was completed at Memorial Hospital of Bedford County in 1992.  Dr. Gronborg is a Fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists and is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons. He is a Certified Wound Specialist as well as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine.   Dr. Gronborg is the former Chief of Podiatry at the Van Zant VA Medical Center, Hyndman Area Health Center and Bons Secours Hospital.  He is the President of the Central Division of the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association and sits on the State Medical Societies Board of Govenors.  Dr. Gronborg is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association and UPMC Bedford Memorial.  Dr. Gronborg in addition is very active in his community through various booster organizations as well as church and civic groups.  He enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting, skiing, and woodworking in his spare time .

Podiatric Assistants

Our podiatric assistants are certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medical Assistants. They are thoroughly trained to assist the patient and doctor. They strive to provide the most complete care in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere putting you at ease and making your experience comfortable and positive. They also perform radiology functions on site enabling x-rays to be taken in the office.
